GCPS Arts & Communication Board
COMMUNITY OUTREACH- INSPIRING FUTURE DESIGNERS
OVERVIEW
I Got to Speak at My Old High School!
I got to speak about my passion, UX/UI, to the advanced graphic design classes for their UX/UI unit! I have a great love for education, and it was great to possibly inspire some students to look into this field.
It was so surreal becoming the teacher and helping students who were once in your spot. It was a full-circle moment for sure.
Sharing insights into the world of UX/UI, discussing real-world applications, and conveying the significance of user-centered design allowed me to possibly ignite a spark of interest in some budding UXers.
THE BOARD
After My Presentation, My Previous Graphic Design Teacher Invited Me to the GCPS Arts & Communication Board
Of course, I was honored to join and help my community. I love contributing to the success of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ arts programs to create a better learning environment for our future leaders.
Additionally, aiding in the development of the curriculum is a pivotal role. Bringing in professional expertise to shape and refine the arts curriculum ensures that it remains current, relevant, and aligned with industry standards. Your experience in the field can help bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, enriching the educational experience for students
MORE COMING!
I am still new on the board, however, I hope to bring UX/UI design thinking principles and Figma into GCPS.
After talking to other teachers at Discovery, soft skills are in high need due to the effects of the pandemic. In UX, empathizing with users is HUGE. It will help students connect and think about other users other than themselves. Facilitating effective feedback exchange is crucial, and I've learned that there is a need for support in this area. Additionally, proficiency in research and data analysis are highly transferable skills that are essential in the realm of UX.
I thoroughly believe that the skills in UX can help students regardless if they go into design or not.
